Fingers and Toes
Logan Medland - Writer, Arranger, Tristan 'Fingers' MacLean
Logan began his career as a concert pianist, graduating from England's Guildhall School of Music and Drama as one of a handful of Canadians to ever receive the Advanced Solo Studies Certificate. Following this, he spent three years as company pianist at the National Theatre of Great Britain, working with such talents as director Jonathan Lynne (Yes Minister and My Cousin Vinnie) and actor Nigel Hawthorne (The Madness of King George III). Upon his return to Canada, Logan spent nine seasons at the Shaw Festival as pianist, composer, musical director and associate conductor.

Personal highlights include the World Premiere of George Gershwin's 'A Foggy Day', and Shaw's 'Passion, Poison and Petrifaction' (with Gillian Raby). Logan's interest in the connection between tap dance and jazz led to numerous collaborations with William Orlowski, internationally renowned tap dancer and choreographer and founder of the National Tap Company. As a jazz pianist, Logan has played across the country with some of the finest Canadian jazz musicians.

He recently received a Dora Award nomination for Outstanding Musical Direction for 'Time After Time: The Chet Baker Project' which toured nationally in winter and spring '03. As an actor, he recently played the part of Teddy Shapiro in 'Sophie Tucker: Last of the Red Hot Mammas' at Lighthouse Theatre and Theatre Orangeville. Meanwhile his writing has been published in literary magazines across Canada and the US. 'The Man Who Delivered Flowers', was selected for an anthology of best new Canadian short stories by Pulp Press in 1996, and his recently completed novel 'The Edge of the World' is represented by the Angela Rinaldi Literary Agency in Los Angeles and New York.

Gyllian Raby - Director, Dramaturge
Gyllian Raby is a director and playwright, currently teaching on the faculty of Brock University. During her decade as Artistic Director with PACT theatres in Alberta, and since as a freelance working out east and down south, she developed a variety of successful new works with a broad cross-section of Canadian and American companies. Highlights include the Shaw Festival ('An Interview with Mr. Shaw'), Calgary's international touring company One Yellow Rabbit (which she co-founded in 1981), Eastern Front Theatre (where she created her last jazz show with saxophone great Paul Cramm), and the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati. Gyllian's musical adaptation of Ray Bradbury's 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' toured extensively in Canada.

'Polygraph' her collaboration with Robert LePage, has been produced all over Canada, Europe, and the United States. She is a member of the Playwrights Union of Canada and of the Literary Managers and Dramaturges of the Americas.

Randy Ganne - Choreographer

In addition to a broad spectrum of dance shows, he has performed in numerous classics during 5 seasons at Edmonton's Citadel Theatre ('Midsummer Night's Dream' and Hadrian VII') and 3 seasons at the Shaw Festival ('A Foggy Day', 'Lady Windemere's Fan' and 'She Loves Me'), where he also choreographed 'The Gershwin Gala' and 'A Coward Affair'.

Proud to be a Canadian, Randy has performed in 'Anne of Green Gables' at the Charlottetown Festival, and he travels all over the country teaching and adjudicating dance festivals. Most recently he worked for the Disney Theatrical Company in 'Beauty and the Beast', performed in the 1930's tap musical, 'RSVP' and played the lead in 'Singing in the Rain' and Riff in 'West Side Story' for Winnipeg's Rainbow Stage. Heather sends love out to her family, "the girls", Sian, and Craig. Without them, none of this would be possible.
Noah Henne - Adrian 'Toes' MacGrath
Hey! I just got back from "A Chorus Line" in Calgary - where I spent a terrific spring. Traveling is great - I've been in Drayton, Ontario for 'Anything Goes', to Hamilton for 'Peter Pan', and took a cruise with Royal Caribbean out of LA 'singing for my supper'. But I've always loved Toronto, where I was born - now have an even deeper appreciation of 'home' having been away. It's been wonderful to work in Toronto, where I played the 'Scarecrow' in 'Me and My Shadows: The Judy Garland Story', 'David' in 'Year of the Lion' for Bravo and CBC/Opening Night, and Jason in 'Meant to Be' an inspiring independent film.

You know... it's very true what they say... if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. So here I am... on holiday again tonight, here with you! God bless you all, and enjoy the show.
Zoë Carpenter - Stage Manager
Zoë's recent credits include a tour of Theatre Smith-Gilmour's Chekhov LongsS to the Festival de Théatre des Amériques in Montreal and the Magnetic North festival in Ottawa; Wimp for Carousel Players in St. Catharines; Schippel The Plumber at the Grand Theatre in London (ASM); and Chekhov LongsS and Chekhov's Shorts in rep for Theatre Smith-Gilmour at Factory Theatre. Zoë has also worked with Nightwood Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille and Buddies In Bad Times Theatre, and has been a theatre manager for the Toronto International Film Festival for the past seven years. Zoë is delighted to be joining the company of Fingers & Toes.

Michael Kruse - Lighting Designer
Michael's most recent credits include Hippie at The Blyth Festival, The Laramie Project for Studio 180, William and James for Theatre Passe Muraille and A Midwinter Nights's Dream for the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus. Michael's over 85 design credits include: The Gwednolyn Poems for the Factory Theatre, The Millionairess and A Woman of No Importance for the Shaw Festival, Alphonse for Theatre Direct Canada (Dora Nomination 2003), Orchidelerium and the The Pains of Youth (Dora Nomination 2001) for Theatre Voce, The Orphan Muses for the Great Canadian Theatre Company, Wit and Last Call: A Post Nuclear Caberet for the Globe Theatre, The Melville Boys and When the Reaper Calls for the Blyth Festival, Patience for the Tarragon Theatre and the 2002 tour of The Hobbit for The Carousel Players.

He has also been very involved in the Shaw Festival Academy as Sound Designer for over 20 productions.

Trevor served as the Head of Sound for Theatre New Brunswick (1991-93,94-95) and Theatre Calgary (1993-94). Other sound design credits include Experiment with an Air Pump at Brock University, The Search for Signs of Intelligence in the Universe at Theatre New Brunswick; Tru at Theatre Calgary; Morality '94 for the Alberta Theatre Projects' Out of Bounds; and Doubt at Tarragon Arts Festival. One Acre Productions - Producers
One Acre Productions began -yes- in a barn. With little more than a script, some top Canadian talent, and a lot of determination, "Fingers & Toes" originated July 5th 2002. Gyllian Raby through sheer determination managed to persuade the entire theatrical department at Brock University to work on this hot little show. The importance of their time and goodwill cannot be stressed enough - especially in the case of an emerging production. 'Fingers & Toes' was offered contracts at several theatres long before anyone knew how to provide for the essentials of producing professional theatre.

Alas the Federal and Provincial Governments have had such dreadful cutbacks to the arts, One Acre Productions found itself in the position of producing the show entirely through it's own means. With the help of Visa, American Express, MBNA Platinum Master Card and a second mortgage on the house and even the barn, One Acre Productions pulled together a show that is touring 11 theatres between summer 2003 and March 2004, with many more theatres interested for 2004.

When Logan Medland began agenting his 'baby' and Kim van Stygeren embarked upon ensuring the smooth deliveries of set/props/costumes, paperwork, red tape and monies, One Acre Productions was born. Broadway here we come!
